The Psychiatrist is a member of the Treatment Team. Psychiatrists are the primary mental healthcare givers. They assess and treat mental illnesses through a combination of psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, hospitalization (if applicable), and medication. Psychotherapy involves regular discussions with patients about their problems; the psychiatrist helps them find solutions through changes in their behavioral patterns, the exploration of their past experiences, or group and family therapy sessions. Psychoanalysis involves long-term psychotherapy and counseling for patients. In many cases, medications are administered to correct chemical imbalances that cause emotional problems.
The Counselor is a member of the Treatment Team. S/he will be responsible for coordinating the services needed by each client assigned to her/his caseload. S/he will provide individual and group counseling. The Clinical Supervisor / Program Director will be the immediate supervisor. This is an hourly or salaried position with hours and schedule established to complete required duties.
The Lead Behavioral Health Clinician is a member of the Treatment Team. S/he will be responsible for coordinating therapeutic services for clients in an Integrated Health Care Setting. S/he will provide individual and group counseling, case management, assessments, crisis intervention, urinalysis as well as overseeing and acting as a liaison between the clinical, medical and administrative staff as well as outside providers. The Clinical Supervisor and Program Director are the immediate supervisors for the Lead Clinician position. This may be a salaried or hourly position with hours and schedule established to complete required duties. This position requires flexible hours to provide oversight and services during evening therapeutic services.
The Assistant is a member of the Administrative Support Team. S/he is responsible for providing support services for the organization. S/he will work under the direct supervision of the Program Director. This is a part time position for the first 90 days and after successful completion of probationary period, an evaluation will be conducted.
Psychiatric nurses diagnose patient conditions and their causes. They interview patients about symptoms and complaints, and determine whether a psychiatric disorder has a physiological or emotional basis. They screen patients for physical illness and analyze explanations for psychiatric illness, such as developmental issues, family dysfunction, genetics, neurological trauma or social or cultural problems. Assessment of risk factors for mental illness and broader wellness evaluations are part of the job as well.
SWinterns will have the opportunity to observe the many programs and clinicians who provide services. They will: Obtaining and writing bio-psycho-social histories using family interviews, and chart reviews and collateral information. • Providing family and/or individual psychotherapy to children and families • Participating and presenting cases in the multi disciplinary team process • Communicating with collateral contacts • Research and referral of resources for families in need of other services • Follow up and case management or advocacy as needed. • Other tasks as assigned.
Clinical supervisors oversee the casework and professional issues of employees. They review and assess client treatment plans, including short- and long-term goals. Clinical supervisors review clinical records to evaluate the necessary level of patient care. Supervisory techniques are utilized to solve problems and implement interventions among employees.
Clinical supervisors promote the development of counseling skills and approaches through evaluations and assessments. They are also responsible for addressing legal and ethical issues within mental health counseling. Clinical supervisors also track documentation and record-keeping for organizational and administrative purposes.
A Co-Medical Director is a physician who provides guidance and leadership on the use of medicine in a healthcare organization. The Co-Director helps devise the protocols and guidelines for the clinical staff and evaluates them while they are in use.
